“You can never have a bad day if you’re wearing red lipstick.”

I can’t remember where I heard this first, but I believe it and repeat it often. Knowing this, my six-year-old (with Dad’s help) recently gifted me with the NYX Lippie Countdown Advent Calendar (now on clearance at Ulta).

The calendar features 24 travel-sized lip products and was sold at the pre-holiday price of $65. Each day, you punch out the perforated lips and pull out your pucker’s prize. It’s a nice variety, including cream lipsticks, traditional lipsticks, glosses, and a fabulous, silky product called Lip Lingerie.

This isn’t an inexpensive indulgence, but the lip-treat sizes are solid.

There did seem to be an overabundance of (sometime shocking, vampire) purple, and some of the shades are substantially more flattering than others. (My son insisted I wear each shade of the day out of the house, but a few didn’t make it all the way to the office.)

Overall, I enjoyed having the calendar, and looked forward to opening up and smearing on my goodie every morning. I kept 16 of the 24, and they’re perfect to throw into a purse as extras. Kinda hoping there’s a new version for the holidays in 2018!
